Full manual shooting and passing will give gamers control over the height and power of their passes and shots: "Passes can be made into open areas, allowing lone strikers to thrive, while offering an unrivalled variety in ways to score."

Dribbling gets a revamp; the speed with which players move with the ball has been slowed down to increase realism, and using R2 will allow players to add different styles to their close control. Speed can be varied, and the ball can be cushioned as players move within a 360-degree circle. Expect to see players knocking balls past each other, nutmegs and plenty of hold-up play.

To balance defense with these new attacking options, Konami is introducing Response Defending. Players can now slow attacks, check runs and steal the ball from a parallel position. The best defenders will use aerial dominance and physicality to turn over play. Goalkeepers get a bit of attention too, with a power gauge appearing when the ball is thrown out, allowing for more accurate distribution of the ball and the possibility of quick counter-attacks.

ProActive AI is Konami's attempt to unite improved control with refined authenticity. The ProActive AI system eradicates "any illogical elements to the way players move and run". The aim is to create a more realistic game experience. Tactical Precision improves how teams attack and defend together: "Teams track back or pelt forward, setting a harder to beat defensive line, teams adjusting faster to ball gain or loss, allowing for quicker counters."

The thing that most fans wanted to see in PES 2013 was enhanced goal keepers, and Konami has acquiesced to their request. Keepers will now respond with better reactions, clear their defensive lines more efficiently and will always look to play the ball into safety, rather than into dangerous areas of the pitch.

Konami are also boasting better connectivity and atmosphere. The popular myPES app will link fans via Facebook, and the game's audio has been tweaked to greater improve atmosphere in games.
